Cat’s in the garden every morning
Scratch up Dad’s flower beds
I said to myself I’d better stop playing and
Go build a wall instead.
Hadrian, Hadrian build it build it
Keep those cats from coming in
Hadrian Hadrian build it build it
They’re jumping and they’re tipping up the rubbish bin
You gotta build that wall.
I’ve noticed that Dad’s blood pressure rises
When neighbourhood cats drop in
If I was a cat I’d just take the hint and
No longer invite myself in.
So just as the Picts were kept out of England
In 132 AD
There’ll be hundreds of cats kept out of our garden
For the rest of this century.
